Jennifer Von Mayrhauser. Whether my classmates knew Barack Obama or not, whether they really did Christian Louboutin Glittered Platform Pump sand a cigarette with him on the steps of the Law Review building or borrow his beat-up leather jacket on a windy day, is neither here nor there. Since my epiphany in the subterranean conference room, I’ve taken a few tentative steps in a direction I had hitherto derided. What happens when you hit 44 and realize you don’t feel as old as you look? AYELET WALDMAN comes to terms with the reflection in the mirror. Not long ago, I went to a reunion of sorts. It was held in Washington, D.C., during the Christian Louboutin Very Prive 100 Studded Pumps of President Barack Obama, in a windowless basement conference room beneath one of that city’s many nondescript, overpriced hotels. The room was rocking with Harvard Law School alumni, most of them fellow members of the class of ‘91. Yes, I went to law school with the president. And no, I wasn’t a friend of his. In fact, I appear to be one of the few members of my class who were not, in retrospect, the president’s BFF. Whether my classmates knew Barack Obama or not, whether they really did share a cigarette with him on the steps of the Law Review building or borrow his beat-up leather jacket on a windy day, is neither here nor there. The Christian Louboutin Pigalle 100 studded pumps, or at least my point, is that everyone in that basement room shared two underlying characteristics: 1) They were, to a person, euphoric, hysterical, and giddy with joy, and 2) they were old. I don’t mean aged and decrepit. I just mean, you know, mature. Grown-up. The men were gray, the women decidedly not. The men had paunches, the women that squinty-eyed, Christian Louboutin Decollete Pumps dark PINK look one gets after the sixth hour of wearing a pair of industrial-strength Spanx. Don’t get me wrong, some of those people looked good — extraordinarily so. This is a class, after all, that includes one member who runs a large cosmetics and hair-products company geared to the African-American community. You’d better believe she looked good. Not a wrinkle on her face. I wish that I could say the same for the rest of us.
